Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Fighters Group

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in influence within the city.

Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of characters who will split off from the main group to undertake their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.

This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.

This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.

Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear unsuited, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

First, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a intense first encounter with the antagonists.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his own means, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.

Casimir then cleared his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as the companion and best friend, desires retribution.
  • The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty location.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their status as key figures in the powerful family could help the team access locations they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and The cleric defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in search of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Questers and Planners parties.

Viewers can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
